Get to Know Me

Hi! I am Ciara, a reader with a thirst to write. Having my own blog is a dream that's been haunting me from the very beginning, owing to the fact that I love writing as much as I love reading. I mean, who doesn't find solace in doing what they're passionate about?

Are you bookworm yourself? Or have you not tried it yet? You see, I've always known that I'm a bookworm at heart, but back then, I did not have the resources that reading requires. It was only in the year 2019 that I was finally able to buy books for myself.

Starting Point

What was the first ever book or work you have read?

As students, our first reads most likely revolves around the textbooks that we were required to pore over in school, or perhaps story books that were enough to satisfy the curious mind of a child. Then some years later, we were somehow introduced to books written by local authors whether published or posted in e-readers like Wattpad. And what a fun phase that is!

Limited Resources

Living in a country where reading for leisure is not much thought of, it is a constant struggle to get my hands on books that genuinely appeal to my interest. There were no bookstore, nor library, nor any place at all where I can browse titles or covers that will draw my interest and fuel my love for books.

It was during my junior high school years that I was introduced to e-books. These books were commonly written by aspiring writers whose ages vary from teens to adults. Most of the books I've read then were romance or romance-comedy, and they almost always have mafia boss, gangsters, or CEOs as male leads. Although most scenes are far-fetched and characters have unrealistic qualities, one can argue that there are still many lessons imparted to the readers.

However, as you grow older you would crave for something more, something that will quench the thirst you did not even know you had. You will search and scrape and indeed, there are a lot more this world can offer.

Are you afraid of change?

Most readers that I know are afraid to try foreign books. Either because they actually love and appreciate what they're reading, or because they were worried that foreign books are well above them and they won't understand a thing had they actually tried it. But how will you know if won't give it a try?

I did not know then that I could read books written by authors from around the world, from all walks of life. How wrong I was. This is not to say that local authors are inferior to that of international ones, for those international authors are called locals too in their own countries. No. What I am trying to say is that you can actually experience more. You can enter a bigger world of wonders. Genres were not limited to romance. There are non-fiction books like history books, autobiographies / biographies / memoirs, self-help, etc., as well as fictions like mystery / thriller / crime, classics, inspirational, Christian and many more still. So, go explore and discover more challenging and thought-provoking reads! Do not be afraid of change.
